1. DEFINITIONS
In this Agreement, the following terms apply:
- “Owner” means ‘Connon Brothers LTD’, the legal owner of the trailer(s).
- “Hirer” refers to the individual or entity renting the trailer.
- “Trailer” refers to the specific trailer hired, including all accessories, parts, and associated equipment.
- “Hire Period” refers to the agreed period between collection and return of the trailer.
2. HIRE PERIOD
- The hire commences on the date and time the trailer is collected or delivered and ends when it is returned in satisfactory condition to the Owner.
- The trailer must be returned by the agreed return time or additional fees may apply.
- Extensions must be requested and confirmed in writing. Unauthorized extensions may be charged at a premium rate.
3. HIRE CHARGES & DEPOSIT
- The hirer agrees to pay the full hire charge upfront, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- A security deposit of £100 is required and refundable upon safe return, subject to inspection. A deposit of £50 will be taken upon reservation and will be included into the total balance upon collection/delivery. This deposit will be non-refundable in the event of a cancellation.
- The deposit may be retained in part or full to cover:
- Damage
- Cleaning fees
- Late return
- Loss or theft
- Breach of these terms
4. CANCELLATION POLICY
- Cancellations must be made in writing by way of email to info@connonhire.co.uk
- The Owner reserves the right to cancel any booking due to unforeseen circumstances. A full refund will be issued.
5. CONDITION & INSPECTION
- The trailer will be provided in clean, roadworthy condition.
- The Hirer must inspect the trailer upon collection and acknowledge its condition.
- Upon return, the trailer must be:
- Clean and empty
- Free of damage
- Returned with all accessories (ramps, covers, straps, etc.)
6. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HIRER
The Hirer must:
- Use the trailer in a safe, lawful manner.
- Ensure their vehicle is legally permitted and capable of towing the trailer and load.
- Comply with all road traffic laws, speed limits, and loading limits.
- Secure all loads and use lights, reflectors, and indicators properly.
- Regularly check tyre pressure, hitch connection, and lights during use.
- Not allow anyone else to tow the trailer without written permission.
- Display a registration plate that matches the car towing the trailer.
- Provide proof of bank statements (digital or paper copy) within the last 90 days, coinciding with the licence provided, as proof of identity upon collection/delivery.
7. PROHIBITED USES
The Hirer agrees not to:
- Use the trailer off-road or on unsuitable terrain.
- Tow in extreme weather conditions that pose a safety risk.
- Use the trailer for illegal activities.
- Modify, disassemble, or tamper with the trailer in any way.
8. DAMAGE, LOSS OR THEFT
- The Hirer is liable for any damage, theft, or loss occurring during the hire period, regardless of fault.
- In the event of an incident:
- Report immediately to the Owner.
- If applicable, file a police report and provide a copy to the Owner.
- Charges may include full repair costs, recovery, downtime, or replacement value.
9. INSURANCE
- The Hirer is responsible for insuring:
- The towing vehicle
- Third-party liability while towing
- Insurance should cover towing trailers and include third-party cover.
- Proof of insurance may be requested before hire.
10. MAINTENANCE
- Routine checks (tyres, lights, hitch) are the responsibility of the Hirer during the hire.
- No unauthorised repairs may be carried out without the Owner’s approval.
11. LIABILITY & INDEMNITY
- The Owner is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss or damage, including:
- Loss of earnings
- Vehicle damage
- Injury caused by improper use
- The Hirer indemnifies the Owner against all claims, liabilities, or damages arising from the trailer’s use during the hire.
12. TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT
- The Owner may terminate the agreement immediately if:
- The Hirer breaches any terms.
- The trailer is misused or appears at risk.
- The Hirer must return the trailer immediately upon request if the agreement is terminated.
13. AGREEMENT & SIGNATURE
The Hirer confirms they have read, understood, and agreed to abide by all terms.
